A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse (Theatre Anaesthetics), reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will form part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring that all our patients receive comprehensive quality nursing care.
Critical Outputs
Effective cost management for staff and stock by:
• Minimising unnecessary stock wastage and facilitating maintenance of equipment.
• Providing quality patient care.
• Assist in identifying and ensuring staff undergo department specific micro-orientation.
• Ensuring daily care rounds are conducted and investigating complaints.
• Providing accurate, appropriate and adequate information to patients and family members during hospitalization.
Providing effective risk management (SHEQ & infection control) by:
• Monitoring and implementing preventative measures to minimize risk.
• Comply with all requirements in order to facilitate infection control.
• Conducting effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identifying doctor’s preferences and stakeholders’ needs and implement in the working environment.
Providing Quality patient care by:
• Obtaining the correct information of the patient pre-operatively and intra-operatively to effectively nurse the patient in the recovery room.
• Ensuring that the patient is comfortable and assist the anaesthetist during recovery period in the recovery room.
• Recovery of patients post operatively and handing over recovery patients to the wards.
• Ensure accurate documentation of patient information during recovery.
Requirements
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
• 3-5 years’ experience working as a Registered Nurse in Cath Lab- cardiology and cardiothoracic.
• Experience or trained in anaesthetics.
• Successful candidate must have own transport and be available to be on stand-by and respond to call outs.
• Computer proficiency.
