Description
A vacancy exists for a Lecturer (Short Learning Programme in Critical Care Nursing) reporting to the AHC Principal. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs that prepare nursing students and professionals for clinical practice.
Critical Outputs
Theory:
• Compiling of lesson plans
• Facilitating virtual contact sessions for students and preceptors
• Setting tests, assignments, workbooks, and examinations (according to Bloom's taxonomy)
• Marking and moderating of tests and exams
• Academic support to students and preceptors
Clinical teaching:
• Design evaluation tools for clinical procedures
• Compiling of lesson plans for clinical teaching
• Assess students for clinical competency
• Moderate clinical assessments
Administrative responsibilities:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook, Teams and Moodle
• Record all student activities: class attendance, marks, consultations, clinical hours
• Assist with the evaluation or changing the current curricula
• Willingness to travel to other provinces and clinical facilities
• Willingness to do overtime
Requirements
• Registered Nurse with SANC
• Basic Qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree) in Nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration as a Professional Nurse
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a higher qualification
• Post basic qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree) in Nursing Education.
• Post-basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing
• Post basic qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree) in Nursing Administration/Management.
• Minimum of 3 (three) years appropriate/recognised nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse
• At least a period of 3 (three) years of appropriate experience in Nursing Education after obtaining a post-basic qualification (Critical Care Nurse)
• Proof of registration with SANC for Assessor and Moderator
• BLS instructor certificate is an advantage
• A valid driver’s license
• Experience in mentoring a specific group of students
• Knowledge of all relevant legislation pertaining to the management of a Nursing Education Institution
