Description

An exciting opportunity is available for a Junior IT Administrator, reporting to the Hospital Manager. The successful candidate will provide reliable technical support, maintain IT systems, and contribute to the smooth and secure operation of hospital technology services.

Critical Outputs

• Provide first-line technical support to hospital staff, resolving hardware, software, network, and user-access issues.

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.

• Create, manage, and maintain user accounts, access rights, passwords, and permissions.

• Assist with the administration and monitoring of servers, networks, backups, and other IT infrastructure.

• Ensure IT systems and equipment remain operational and available to support clinical and administrative functions.

• Log, prioritise, track, and resolve IT incidents and service requests within agreed service levels.

• Perform routine system maintenance, software updates, patching, and basic security checks.

• Assist with data backup and recovery processes and escalate critical incidents appropriately.

• Maintain accurate IT asset registers, documentation, and technical records.

• Provide professional and customer-focused support while maintaining confidentiality of hospital and patient information.

Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric. • An A+ or N+ Qualification

• 1–2 years' experience in an IT support or junior systems administration role.

• Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking, hardware, and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with IT service desk/ticketing systems.

• Understanding of basic cybersecurity principles, antivirus solutions, backups, and access control.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Previous experience within a hospital or healthcare environment will be advantageous.
