Description

A vacancy exists for a Junior Clinical Engineer, reporting to the Hospital manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, installation, and day to day repairs and procurement of medical equipment and ensure the continuity of operations in accordance with the applicable Rondebosch Medical Centre ‘standards and other related legal requirements and best practices.

Critical Outputs

• Attend to daily job cards as obtained from both internal and doctors and incoming emergency calls from time to time.

• In depth knowledge of medical equipment and accessories.

• Able to assume full responsibility for and management of the medical equipment for various sites.

• Conduct daily repairs and routine inspection and checks and maintain safe operations of medical equipment.

• Able to conduct develop and update asset register on a regular basis and conduct asset verification twice annually.

• Responsible for planning, arranging and execution of scheduled medical equipment services according to manufactures specifications and legal requirements as well as it is determined on the year planner.

• Able to effective management and having regular meetings with service providers/suppliers to review their performance and quality of their service.

• Able to work on CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).

• Attend repairs and assist with corrective maintenance as well as fault basil fault-finding medical equipment

• Provide proper diagnostic on issues and able to perform faultfinding and troubleshooting on medical equipment.

• Able to provide guidance, motivation and costing when the hospital wants to purchase new medical equipment.

• Accurate record keeping of both service certificates and deviations job cards for all issues raised during normal and corrective maintenance.

• Accurate identification of problems and their associated risks which may affect the operations of the medical equipment.

• Required to be on standby and to respond to after hour’s emergency as per the business operations requirements.

• Able to build and maintain relationships with clients (nursing staff, patients and doctors) and ensure that their expectations are met.

• Able to identify training needs of the nursing staff regarding medical equipment and arrange training according with the service providers.

• Able to develop a 5-year replacement plan including costing for all medical equipment.

• Able to act as a technical expert and competent person when providing advice to and/or supervising Maintenance Assistances on sites.

• Able to monitor and control external service providers’ work and provide guidance in adherence and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

• Must be able to follow and compliant with all technical policies and all legal requirement standards.

• Able to maintain records for services and maintenance work done on sites.

• Able to participate and prepare the hospital for various audits (DOH and QMS)

• In depth knowledge and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

 

Requirements

• National Diploma in Clinical Engineering.

• Eligible to register or member of the South African Association of Clinical Engineers (CEASA)

• Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in hospital/healthcare.

• Able to work in a team. • Proven knowledge and specialist in Clinical Engineering.

• Knowledge of local building legislations (codes) and other related requirements will be advantageous.

• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.

• Be in possession of a valid driver's license.

• Able to read, write and speak in English.

• Computer Skills (MS office)
