Description
An opportunity exists for a General Assistant, reporting to the Food Service Manager. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring high standards of hygiene and efficiency while working alongside the catering team to deliver safe, nutritious meals to patients and staff.
Critical Outputs
• Assist with basic food preparation and portioning under the guidance of senior kitchen staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils in line with hygiene and infection control standards.
• Support meal service by preparing trays, delivering food to designated areas, and collecting used dishes.
• Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling practices are followed.
• Assist with stock rotation, unpacking deliveries, and storing supplies correctly.
• Provide general support to the catering team to ensure smooth daily operations.
Requirements
• Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or hospitality environment is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Physical ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting, cleaning, and standing for extended periods.
• Willingness to work as part of a team in a busy hospital environment.
