Description
An opportunity exists for a Chef, reporting to the Food Services Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that patients and staff receive nutritious, safe, and appealing meals that support health and recovery as well as overseeing kitchen operations, managing staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food preparation and service in a healthcare environment.
Critical Outputs
• Lead the planning, preparation, and delivery of meals in line with hospital dietary guidelines.
• Design menus that meet diverse nutritional needs, including special diets prescribed by medical staff.
• Supervise kitchen staff, providing training and guidance to maintain consistent quality.
• Ensure strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and infection control standards.
• Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships to ensure cost-effective operations.
• Oversee timely meal service to patients, wards, and staff facilities.
• Collaborate with dietitians and healthcare professionals to align food services with patient care plans
Requirements
• Professional Culinary Qualification (Diploma/Degree) or equivalent
• Proven experience as a Chef, ideally within healthcare or large-scale catering.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety regulations, and hospital dietary standards.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Physical ability to manage kitchen operations in a busy environment
