Description
An opportunity exists for an Artisan (responsible for RH Bell & RH Rand), reporting to the Technical Services Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all air conditioning and refrigeration systems within the hospital premises. This role is critical in ensuring a comfortable and compliant environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Critical Outputs
• Perform routine inspections, servicing, and maintenance of all HVAC systems.
• Diagnose and repair faults in air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment.
• Ensure all HVAC systems comply with health and safety standards and hospital-specific protocols.
• Maintain logs of all repairs and maintenance conducted.
• Work closely with the Technical Services team to support hospital infrastructure operations.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency repair requests.
• Monitor system performance and energy efficiency.
• Recommend improvements or upgrades to existing systems where necessary.
Requirements
• Trade Test Certificate in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (NQF Level 4 or higher).
• At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in HVAC systems, preferably in a healthcare
• Knowledge of hospital compliance requirements, including infection control and temperature regulation standards, will be an advantage.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair documents.
• Physically fit, with the ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
• Valid Driver’s License (Code B or higher).
• Must be willing to work on a rotational standby schedule and respond to call-outs after hours.
